Special Session 1 Title: Hydraulic Engineering and Hydraulic machinery

Short description of the proposed topic:

The construction of hydraulic engineering is closely linked to marine engineering research. Hydraulic equipment plays a vital role in ensuring the safe transportation of oil, gas, mineral resources, and enhancing marine resource extraction and ocean energy utilization. Therefore, the conference has invited distinguished young scholars in the field of hydraulic engineering to deliver keynote and invited session reports. Additionally, it will facilitate interdisciplinary discussions among experts on topics intersecting with marine engineering.

Novelty and motivation:

Hydraulic Engineering and Hydraulic machinery include water turbines, pumps, and valves, serving as critical infrastructure for safeguarding water resource security and optimizing water allocation. Hydraulic engineering is closely related to marine engineering fields such as coastal and estuarine management, marine resource development, and environmental and ecological engineering. To foster interdisciplinary academic exchange between hydraulic and marine engineering, the Special Session on Hydraulic Engineering and Hydraulic Machinery is established, aiming to strengthen academic collaboration and share the latest research achievements among scholars.

Short Biography of Organizers:

Zhang Desheng, professor, doctoral supervisor, NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars, Changjiang Young Scholars Program by the Ministry of Education, is currently the deputy director of the National Pump and System Engineering Technology Research Center and the Secretary of Party committee of Research Center of Fluid Machinery Engineering and Technology in Jiangsu University. He is mainly engaged in the research of hydraulic machinery design theory and hydrodynamics. He has presided over more than 20 projects, including the Joint Funds of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and Excellent Youth Foundation of Jiangsu Scientific Committee. He is the deputy editor-in-chief of Journal of Hydrodynamics, the executive deputy editor-in-chief of Journal of Drainage and Irrigation Machinery Engineering, the executive editor of Journal of Hydrodynamics. He also serves as a member of the Pump and Pumping Station Professional Committee of the Chinese Hydraulic Society and vice president of the Jiangsu Pump Industry Association. He has published more than 120 academic papers and authorized more than 50 invention patents in the United States, the United Kingdom, and China. The research results have been applied and demonstrated in the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the "the Belt and Road" major pump station projects, and won 5 provincial and ministerial-level first and second prizes for scientific and technological progress.
